Rogan Art is an ancient freehand painting tradition rooted in South Asian heritage, with the word "Rogan" meaning "oil" in Persian. Traditionally created using linseed oil, other local plant-based oils, and mineral pigments, this technique dates back to the tribal arts of Afghanistan's mountain regions. Historical evidence from Bamiyan, Afghanistan, shows that oil-based painting was used as early as the 5th to 9th centuries, long before the Renaissance in Europe.

Our July 2025 workshops in France & Ireland will offer a hands-on learning experience, where participants will work directly with the master artisan Fayyaz Ahmad to practice this rare technique, creating intricate designs while exploring its deep historical roots. Workshops will include introductory hands-on half day workshops to lecture series regarding the origins of oil painting.  Watch out for dates coming soon.
